Blog name change???

Hello blog readers:
I'm stuck in the middle of a bad sandwich. I've been thinking about my blog name, and so far, I hate it. You see, this whole thing started when my mother had a mini-mid-life crisis and decided she should start blogging just for fun to pass the time. I said why not?!, it could be fun and a good way to reach more people. Only problem is, my mother is OBSESSED with being Black/African-American, whatever people are calling themselves these days. If the Black Panther Party had a surprise meeting, my mother would be there in a heartbeat, and while I respect that, the whole persona is just not me.
SOOOOOOOO, now I gotta find something to replace what I already have in place. HELP MEEEEE!!!!!
I think I enabled comments.....let the ideas flow.

Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day Everyone!!!
I'm writing to you from my kitchen table as both of my parents lay dead asleep on this glorious morning. I can't stay long, however, I've got to get ready for the always intriguing CHURCH. I swear, there is something fulfilling in waking up at the crack of dawn to scream at the top of your lungs in the name of God every Sunday morning. I wonder what all of my readers think about God, and church, and religion in general. It seems to be ammunition these days; we use it to hurt and blame other people when really, God has nothing to do with it. It's pure human emotion and nothing more.
That's why I encourage you to explore the world of pizza and meditation.
Well I think my time is up friends; have a good weekend and great Father's Day. Don't forget to thank those you love for being there, and if they're not there, turn Father's Day into All About Me Because I'm EXTRA SPECIAL Day.

My Reading Troubles

Hello there--
I've been trying to find a good book to get into lately, but since I'm busy working and taking classes, and battling the woes of a semi-long distance relationship, I have no time to read anything anymore. Sad, I know, especially since there are so many good books out there in the world for me to try out and explore. BUT, nonetheless, I can't really find anything, anything at all, that keeps me interested past the first three chapters. It kinda makes me angry, but I guess life makes us all angry at some point. I just feel kind of pathetic that boring, horribly written books make me angry rather than normal things. On the bright side, I'm revisiting some old music that I forgot I had on my Ipod. Seems like when you forget about good music and come back to it later, it gets even better than the first time you ever heard it. I love that about music; it makes things feel magical and surreal when really there's nothing there but sounds and noises. I guess those sounds and noises translate into something more natural, more human, than anything else in the world. It feels like home. Summer is a good time to listen to music that feels like home. I don't about any of you, but home is hard to find when you're away from everything you know and are used to, when you're away from friends and everyday routines, when you're away from your boyfriend who lives less than 2 miles away from you. Home is rare in the summer. So,I encourage you to find home in the small things in life. For me it's music and poetry. It used to be books. Things change with time. Time changes with more time. I think I just confused myself, but you get my drift. I should be finishing my summer reading, but I'd rather be surfing the net for clothes I can't afford and reblogging a bunch of stupid pictures on Tumblr. Have a nice homeless summmer.
Peace,
M

Pickles!!!

Hi there guys!!
I know it's been a rather long time since I've posted on this thing; I've been busy procrastinating and enjoying my summer and working. Hopefully you will continue reading this blog, it would really really make me happy.

I'm currently thinking about eating a huge, fat, scrumptious pickle.

I've also discovered my new favorite show on A&E besides the Intervention series: Longmire. It's a fucking fabulous show. Good writing, excellent acting, and an intriguing twist in every episode. Take my advice, and tune in Sundays at 10pm for this delectable show.

Another few things I've discovered: Illamasqua Skin Base foundation from Sephora, otherwise known as heaven. I just bought it online, and I love it! It's a little pricey for not a lot of product $42 to be exact, BUT, it comes in the perfect little bottle and the squeeze tip at the end ensures that you don't go overboard and end up looking like a drag queen on a hot summer day in Mississippi. Mine shade is on the olive/tan side, but it does come in all sorts of shades. Try it out!

Ren Clean Skincare Micro Polish Cleanser: " A two in one formula that deeply cleanses and gently resurfaces the skin to leave it looking purified, renewed, and radiant". Check it out, feels good on the face, smells great!

Clinique Acne Solutions: Spot Healing Gel: OMG I swear this stuff works WONDERS. Put it on the skin as directed and you're skin problems will magically disappear. Wear it overnight before that big party, and you're skin with be smooth the next day.

Korres Mattifying Pomegranate Primer: It's Korres, the GOD of all relatively natural makeup skincare products. Nuff said. BUY IT.

Tarte Lights! Camera! Lashes! Mascara: Small brush, but big results. Not a cakey formula, washes away easily. Perfect for us girls of color: We tend to have curly eyelashes. Here's my trick: put the brush above the lashes into the actual curl of the lash. Rotate the brush in the lashes almost like you're brushing them out. It extends the curl and makes your eyes look sparkly!

Sephora Smoky Kohl Eyeliner: I love this stuff! I have tons of eyeliner and I love purple because it works well with my brown eyes plus it's my favorite color. This is only $12 at sephora and comes in fabulous colors; I got mine in black. Goes on glossy, so you can apply as many layers as you want without looking like a truck stop hooker in Fargo.

Okay my Black Beauties, Pictures to come! I love you guys! Now for that second pickle....

Goodmorning--
I'm writing to you as I watch TLC because I'm just THAT bored. Anyways, I've been thinking about of lot of things lately, and my friends, the Karmic Gods, have told me that I should go with it. Recently, my mom brought home a book about Buddhism. It's called "Pearls of Wisdom, Prayers for Engaged Living" and it has a long list of prayers for the everyday concern available in what appears to be Mandarin or Cantonese characters. It's a pretty cool book, and so far I like it. My mom gave it to me to inspire my poetry, which I guess I'll talk about later. Anyhoo, I'm seriously considering Buddhism. It seems pretty relaxing and chill; It wouldn't hurt to let go a little bit and maybe learn some meditation. I plan on checking out the local Buddhist Temple just to get a feel for what it's about and determine if it's something I really wanna explore. Who knows, maybe I'll actually like it if not love it. I'll be posting some pictures soon on other topics too, so keep reading!

Enjoy! Go forth and have a fruitful day!
